Healthy Back Anatomy

One of the biggest and most painful conditions to live with is back pain. Back and neck pain are two of the most common health problems today. If you’ve experienced either or both, then you’ll no doubt agree. I’ve been living with both. Many years ago I moved a very heavy patient the wrong way, and I’ve had back and neck issues ever since. Going to a chiropractor helps, but the onus is on us to support and strengthen our back with exercises. We need to educate ourselves and find a great resource, and I found the perfect book to assist us.

The Healthy Back Anatomy, A Chiropractor’s Guide to a Pain-Free Back is a compendium of specific exercises that will improve your backs health. It’s a complete program that includes stretches, balance and posture exercises, and lower back, neck, shoulder, and core exercises, as well as warm-ups and cool-downs.

Many people get severe headaches or experience numbness in the legs, feet, buttocks and even their hands. All these conditions may be linked to the health of your back.

Healthy Back Anatomy

A solid understanding of our spinal anatomy is important to achieving a healthy and flexible back. This book is packed with vivid images with concise explanations about each muscle. They also provide the anatomical illustrations that let you see how your muscles work. You’ll be able to mindfully work each muscle as you follow the step by step guides.

Each exercise has a ‘Quick Guide’ that shares the target muscles, level of intensity, the type of exercise it is, the benefits and who should not be doing the movement. They also have a ‘Do it Right’ section that shares the right and wrong way to perform the exercise or stretch.

As you go through the book and you’ll want to pick out specific exercises that you can handle at the onset. You’ll soon notice how quickly you can upgrade your moves, or how much further you can stretch. I’m doing all the beginner exercises, along with a few intermediate. When done properly, you’ll definitely feel better. The book comes with a poster that features the bodies muscle anatomy and some exercises. It’s a great quick reference instead of thumbing through your book.

I’ve never seen such a comprehensive book with detailed guidance to help us strengthen our back, core and neck. I’m so glad I have this ‘back bible’; it’s made a big impact on my back’s health and even my posture. It’s a great book for any looking to improve their back.
