Neck Effects, 30 Scarves, Wraps, & Cowls to Knit

Nothing says I love you more than a handmade present. With the holiday season only eight plus weeks away, now is the time to get our knitted and crocheted gifts made. Scarves are fun and easy to whip up and my newest book, Neck Effects, has 30 different cozy knitted projects you can create for your friends and family. They feature bright and colorful scarves, wraps, and cowls.

The patterns have various skill levels from easy, intermediate, and experienced patterns. As I flipped through the book, I noticed there are very few easy patterns, most are more elaborate projects for the skilled knitter. Each pattern has the skill level displayed on the front page, so there’s no guessing. They also show a full-color image of every pattern so you can see the finished garment. The abbreviation, tools, techniques, and how to’s are at the back of the book for easy reference.

I thought it was nice that all the projects have women’s names, and I love the Victoria pattern. This cozy neck warmer is worked on a circular needle and delight to make. It has a ribbed collar and a lacey zig-zag pattern. You can adjust the pattern easily to create a longer rib or lace area.

I have a few friends you hinted that they would love these for Christmas, so I dug out their favorite colors, and made them in no time. This project is for experienced knitters, but it would not take long to get the hang of the pattern, and the comfort of using circular needles.

Although it’s hard to see the pattern on the black collar, the neck is actually a little longer on this garment. This friend loves thick and comfy collars, so I made the rib another few inches longer.

The winters are cold and we all love to bundle up in style. This book has a lot of gorgeous ideas for snug neckwear. If you’re not a knitter, but someone you love is, this book would make a great gift! Happy Holidays!
