Knit Noro: Accessories 2 Patterns

I love to knit. It’s more than just a hobby to me, it’s a deep passion. I usually have several projects on the go at any one time. I find knitting enjoyable, calming and productive. Knitting also allows my creativity to flow with flair and unyielding freedom. I’ve got a lot of wild ideas and yarn is my perfect medium. It’s also very rewarding to see a stylish and colorful garment come off one’s knitting needles.

Because I love knitting so much, I like to keep up with updated trends. I’m always on the prowl for new books and innovative patterns. I found both at Sixth and Spring with their newest release Knit Noro Accessories 2 which will be available in stores and online April 4th.

What do I like most about this book? Color, color, color! The patterns are fashion forward and each one is created with dynamic colors in either solid or variegated Noro yarns. This book features 30 innovative projects that will keep you warm from head to toe. From shawls to scarves to gloves to beanies to fingerless gloves; there’s something for all level of knitters. Plus, whether you’re a novice or pro, you’ll be introduced or reacquainted with useful knitting techniques that will come in useful with future projects.

Each pattern features a vibrant image along with an easy to read pattern. The skill level is mentioned at the onset of each pattern so you can decide if it’s within your capability. Some projects can be made in a day, others may take you a few weeks. But, knitting is about the process and the excitement seeing your garment come alive as your making it. I was able to whip up the Lace Beanie in a few hours and it’s gorgeous.

Each pattern states the weight size of yarn you’ll need to complete the project. All of the patterns in this books require (4) weight yarn as seen by the symbol here at the beginning of the paragraph. 4 weight yarn is medium weight or worsted weight. If you are unable to find the yarn recommend in the pattern, you can still use other yarns. As long as you have the same weight of yarn and your stitch gauge is right, your pattern will work out.

There are quite a few patterns that I was drawn to immediately. Fingerless gloves have been trendy for several years now, and everyone wants a pair or two. This book features a diverse selection of these gloves, but I love the Evening Lace Fingerless Gloves. The stitch pattern is elegant, and the rainbow effect of the yarn is so attractive. They’re a little more versatile than a glove; you have so much more freedom, yet they keep your wrists and hands warm.

I enjoy making hats for my family and friends, plus I usually make dozens each year to give away as gifts. The Peruvian Chullo piqued my interest. It has a fun llama pattern along with a creative fair isle graph. I prefer to work from graphs; I find I knit a lot faster.

If you’re a big shawl fan, then you’ll love the various designs and color combinations Noro has created. Shawls are an all-purpose loose garment that drapes loosely over your shoulders, upper body and arms, and can be worn several ways. They’re simple, yet can add personality to any outfit. I love the colors in the Garter and Lace Diamond Shawl.

Many craft books can be filled with trinkets and fridge art crafts, but Noro Accessories is loaded with useful and practical projects. These are the kind of craft books that we keep and pass down to our family.
