This summer was fantastic with the nicest weather in years. It compelled me to get outdoors and walk and hike in the fresh air and warm sun. I didn’t miss one day and I’m still going strong. But, as the weather cools and the days shorten, moving our fitness regime indoors is inevitable. Plus it gives us the opportunity to switch up our routine and do something completely different. For me, one of the things I like to do is yoga, and this year I’m ready for some new gear. I always head over to Gaiam, they have the prettiest yoga accessories on the market. But there’s more to them, they’re a lifestyle brand that’s devoted to making quality yoga, fitness and wellness products available to everyone.
I have a few of Gaiam’s yoga mats and it’s not that they’ve worn out, they actually still look like new. But, I just feel the need for a new color. Color affects your moods and can either discourage or inspire you. One color that inspires me is purple and Gaiam just happened to get some new purple yoga gear that is gorgeous. I just had to have them.
Gaiam Easy Roll Yoga Mat 6mm
Getting a new yoga mat requires some thought, insight and research. It’s a tool or accessory that provides you with comfort, cleanliness and a convenient workout area. Grabbing a generic brand off a store shelf may not provide you with your specific requirements. You have to consider thickness, texture and importantly, what material it’s made from.
♥ Folding divot that rolls the mat perfectly, every time
♥ Lightweight and durable
♥ Textured non-slip surface for excellent traction
♥ 6mm of premium cushioning
♥ Supports you in any pose or practice
♥ Ideal for use at home or the studio
♥ 6P and latex free
Some people prefer a flat smooth surface, whereas I love textured surfaces. The Easy Roll mat has a small patterned non-slip textured surface that slightly sticky for a good grip. It feels so nice on the toes and fingers – and those accidental face plants. It’s 6mm thick and offers a nice spongy surface area where your knees and derriere will feel at peace. I get that it can make it harder to feel a strong connection to the floor, but it’s so nice on the joints — especially if you have arthritis or mobility issue. You have to take your circumstances into consideration and get a mat that works for you – don’t worry about the cool girls who have ultra-thin mats. For me, the 6mm works perfectly and I love the two-tone color – purple and gray – option a well.
At the end of a yoga workout, we have the tedious task of rolling up the mat. It usually takes me a few tries to get it the edges aligned and the mat snug enough to fit into my carry sling before it uncoils. With the indented folding line, you get on the straight and narrow with the first roll. It saves time and there’s a lot less fuss. Not to be forgotten is the material the mat is made from. Materials: PVC free. Latex Free. 6P Free: Free of DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIDP, and DNOP phthalates.
Stay-Put Yoga Mat Towel
If you’re like me and never experienced a yoga towel over your yoga mat, then you’ll want to learn more. It’s a wonderful idea and I wish I tried them before.
♥ Stay-put design: four corner pockets secure to the mat to prevent slippage
♥ Fits any standard mat (24” x 68”)
♥ Made from hypoallergenic microfiber
♥ Absorbs twice as much as cotton and dries in half the time
♥ Great for all types of yoga
Doing a yoga routine may look like it’s easy, but you can get dewy and sweating very quickly. Here’s where a yoga towel can be an advantage. The Gaiam Stay- Put Yoga Towel has a dual purpose; it has pocket corners that slip over the corners of your mat to secure it in place, plus it absorbs twice as much as cotton and dries in half the time. This towel will fit over the corners of any standard mat, and it won’t bunch or slide through your most challenging twists and turns. I would also add that it’s warm and soothing to the body. It’s made from hypoallergenic microfiber so everyone can use it, even those with allergies.
Double-Walled Stainless Steel Bottles
Did you know that you can lose anywhere from 3 to 5 of water weight when doing yoga stretches? To prevent this dehydration, it’s essential to drink lots of water during a yoga practice. I like to have ice cold water handy to quench my thirst and relieve some of the heat. But, very often the water is room temperature due to the water bottle I’m using.
♥ 18/8 double walled construction
♥ Stainless steel in a variety of colors and patterns
♥ Water will stay cool for up to 24 hours or hot for up to 12
♥ Easy grip design
♥ No-leak vacuum seal
♥ Non-sweat or condensation construction
The Gaiam Stainless Steel bottle is a 17 oz double insulated container that allows you to keep your fluid hot or cold for long periods of time. This is a big claim, so I put this bottle to the test. At 24 hours, my ice was still very cold, and at 12 hours my hot chocolate was still very warm and enjoyable to drink. Granted, most of us won’t need our beverages to stay cold or hot this long, but it’s nice to know it’s an option. Keep your cool when you need it the most!
I really like the slender design, it’s easy to grip, pour and drink from. It also has a normal sized stopper so even little hands can navigate the girth. I love the beautiful colors and cool prints to choose from. You can coordinate them with the color of your yoga mats. It’s purple power all the way for me!
