Have you ever met someone who bought all of the latest and greatest gadgets, gizmos and appliances? Their panty is crammed with every kind and color of kitchen apparatus or tool. Well, that’s my mother. Yes, I was raised by an appliance junkie. I promised myself that when I had my own kitchen, I would never be enamored with cheap, shiny and pretty colored appliances, and I haven’t. I prefer to use the best on the market which is why many of my appliances are from Breville. They are synonymous with and leaders in innovative household appliances. They offer a variety of appliances for every kitchen chore which is why I turned to them when I need a new blender.
As a vegan, I make smoothies almost every day. In order to blend all the ingredients thoroughly, it requires a capable blender. Breville has just released their Fast and Furious Blender with a powerful motor and high torque for a smooth consistency performance. The lumps have nowhere to hide!
Breville Fast & Furious
with 9 task controls and timer
The Breville Fast & Furious Blender has the classic smooth brushed stainless steel finish like all its sister appliances. It comes with a 50 oz (1.5L) Round BPA Free Tritan Jug, a manual and 10 of the smoothest recipe cards included from ice lollies, marinades, smoothies, and dips.
It’s All About the Base
I found its Heavy Duty Die-cast Metal Base to be lighter and a little smaller than most high powered blenders, but to me, that’s a good thing. A big feature is its Kinetix contoured blade and bowl system. It has 2 sweeping smooth blades and 4 serrated blades that create a natural vortex which draws ingredients into the blades for the creamiest results.
Secret Code: Holiday Cocktails
It has five different speeds – mix, chop, blend, puree and liquify for one-touch versatility. It offers 1100 watts of pulverizing power to liquify your ingredients in seconds, making it a versatile and convenient kitchen appliance.
The large LCD lights up and counts up on speed settings and down for pre-programmed settings for complete control when blending. There are three preset programs, Green Smoothie, Auto Pulse Ice Crush and Smoothie. Each of these cycles is automatically adjusted to the right speed and mixing time for even blending.
All three preprogrammed cycles blend for 60 seconds and then automatically shut off. So why two smoothie programs? The Green Smoothie is set to blend leafy greens and seeds which require more power as opposed to a fruit smoothie —there is a difference. I tried both smoothie programs and they blended all the ingredients until it was a smooth mixture.
Smoothie Preset Program
I always seem to find lumps in my smoothies but the Smoothie program blended all the ingredients to a smooth creamy consistency. It’s not only nice to have a rich pleasant texture in your mouth, but it’s wonderful to be able to use my smoothie straws and not have to deal with chunks of fruit stuck inside. This dreamy mixture flowed effortlessly through the straw.
The Fast and Furious can be used for more than smoothies. You can mix batters, makes salsas, sauces, dips, dressings, pesto, soups, hummus and so much more. If you’re looking for colorful and healthy vibrant recipes, Breville also has a bounty of them in their Color Me Healthy section. Or you can peek through the recipe cards that came with the Fast and Furious. This is where I found a tasty hummus recipe. Within 30 minutes, you can make a dip that will add pizzazz to your meals and snacks. It’s also great for family get-togethers and all the holiday parties coming ahead.
Chargrilled Red Pepper Hummus
The Breville recipe card spells out everything from ingredients to blend to speed setting to blend time. Just toss the ingredients in the jar and blend until rich and creamy. I added my homemade sundried tomatoes for a different flavor because my family loves them. That’s the beauty of hummus, you can add so many other veggies and herbs to create a variety of flavors.
There are several other cool attributes the Fast and Furious has to offer. I think one of the nicest programs it has is the Auto Clean. It will pulse and run at certain speeds for 60 seconds to remove all the ingredients lodged under and around the blade. It worked really well and saves you the hassle of trying to get a dish brush inside to clean.
Another thing I like is the blenders assist lid, it seals tightly and has a ring pull for easy removal. This is so much nicer than grasping the lid with your hand stretched out in discomfort to pull it off.
The only drawback if you want to call it that, is that it’s just as noisy as all the other blenders. I’m not sure it’s possible to have a quiet blender. But what’s more important to me are the results, and this little powerhouse delivers.
The Breville Fast and Furious is a breeze to use, to clean and create scrumptious recipes with day after day. I’m already thinking about holiday parties and get-togethers. Having this handy appliance on hand to quickly whip up party favorites is going to ensure they all turn out perfect and reduce my time in the kitchen.
I also want to mention the price. Many high performing blenders will cost you well over $500. But, the Fast & Furious is budget-friendly at only $250. Just another reason to love this blender!
