Embroidery and Paper Quilling

I can’t imagine a day without crafting. I love to knit, crochet, embroider and cross stitch. With the holiday season here, I’m going full speed trying to create heartfelt gifts for my friends and family. Although I’ve been collecting ample crocheting and knitting books, I haven’t seen too many embroidery books that have crossed my path until recently. I also found a book on Paper Quilling which intrigued me. I’ve also been fascinated with this art and thought I’d check it out.

There are so many different versions of embroidery. Being from a German family, some of my relatives used to create pictures with beautiful folk art embroidery stitches. I used to be mesmerized with the images and wished I could duplicate the stitches. One of my new books features Chinese Embroidery.

It’s no surprise that the Chinese culture would have fine needle crafts like embroidery, as they cherish their artists. Chinese Embroidery is divided into six sections, starting with the history of Chinese embroidery. Their embroidery almost looks 3 dimensional, with their unique stitches. The next chapter shares tools, tips and techniques so your applications are flawless. The rest of the book goes into creating amazing needlework with a plethora of stitches. You’ll be guided with full-color images that share each step of making a specific stitch. There are twenty different embroidery projects to try out that include various flowers, leaves, birds, dragons and so much. This is an ideal book for those seeking to learn or broaden their embroidery skills.
