60 Quick Cowls to Knits
Changing your look does not require buying a whole new wardrobe. Fashion accessories can add some serious pizzazz to plain and boring outfits, and cowls are one of those accessories. Cowls instantly add colorful drama to your wardrobe. The great news is, you can make them yourself with the help of a new book, 60 Quick Cowls, Luxurious Projects to Knit.
This winter, cowls were all the rage, and the trend is not slowing down. Inside 60 Cowls to Knit, you’ll find a diverse selection of cowl patterns that add texture, eclectic prints, and splashy hues to create a new present-day look. They spontaneously take you from lackluster to spirited, from mousy to sexy, from shy to sassy!
Each of the 60 patterns is rated at four different skill levels, from beginner to advanced. Some of the patterns have written instructions while the more advanced ones will have a graph for you to follow.
I enjoyed perusing through the book and picking out various cowl designs that would work well with my style and interest. The Cable & Bobble Combo cowl captured my attention with its snazzy pattern. I happen to love cable and bobbles; they add interest and a unique symmetrical pattern that’s visually attractive. This particular project does not have a written pattern; you have to follow a graph. This cowl is shorter so I can be worn close to your neck. It’s sporty, cozy, and looks great with casual and dress wear.
I also made the Frosted Flowers cowl. The frost flower is one of my favorite patterns, and I’ve used it for many years. I’m always impressed when someone can convert this pattern into other wearables. So, I was naturally thrilled to see a cowl with this elegant pattern. This pattern is a little harder to make so it comes with both written instructions and a graph to follow. The Frosted Flowers cowl is long and hangs about mid-chest. It not only adds warmth but a glamorous print.
Like any pattern, it’s open to your vision, your interpretation. They will recommend a particular yarn, but as long as you have the correct gauge, you can use any material that appeals to you. For me, I enjoy experimenting with different yarns and creating a look that’s going to blend harmoniously with my wardrobe. Knitting is one of my passions, and this book is perfect for my craft collection.
