Breville Control Grip

My mother is an appliance junkie. Growing up and even still today, she’ll buy any little kitchen gadget that promises to make life easier. The trouble is, they’re inferior. They don’t live up to their puff, and they break easily, so she’s replacing them regularly. Buying a quality brand like Breville means you’ll have a superior product that will last decades and, in the long run, saves you lots of money. I recently received their version of an immersion blender, the Control Grip, and I’m so impressed with its performance.

The Breville Control Grip immersion blender has an abundance of awesome features. When you first pick up the Control Grip, you’ll notice it’s heavier than other brands because it’s made from high-end materials. It has a stainless steel shaft and a 280 W motor, so it’s durable and offers lots of power. I was astounded that it has 15-speed settings; this enables you to have complete and precise control over how much power you need per each use. It’s ergonomic and has a comfort grip that allows your fingers to fit into the grooves nicely and contently. The speed control dial is on the very top of the unit so it can’t be bumped accidentally.

If you look at the oval-shaped blade, you’ll see two inner ribs. These ribs create more turbulence so foods will fold onto the blade instead of you pulling the blender up and down trying to capture pieces of food. I have an older immersion blender, and I’m always struggling with the suction and getting the food well blended. With the Control Grip, there is no suction at all, and you barely have to move it to get your foods blended. It has a soft base so it won’t scratch any surface if you’re blending directly into a pot or bowl.

The blending shaft is ideal for mixing things like smoothies, milkshakes, puree’s, soups, dips, and more. For these recipes, I like to use the jug. It has plenty of volume and a handle for easy control. I like to mix green powders like spirulina or chlorella in water, but they’re hard to blend. With the Control Grip, it takes 2 seconds and my mixture was thoroughly blended. The chopping bowl holds up to 3 cups of chopped food. It’s perfect for chopping veggies, herbs, nuts, cheese, crackers, and more.

I love the chopping bowl; it’s so versatile. Add your veggies or fruit making sure the pieces are approximately the same size for even blending. Just make sure you don’t go over the maximum line. Put the chopping bowl inside the jug so you have more control and a handle that’s easy to grip. Now you simply adjust your speed and in a few pulses or seconds, you have finely cut food.

The Whisk Wire can be used for mixing thin batters, eggs, whipping cream, gravy, and powder mixes. The whisk snaps at the end of the unit and is ready to use. Caution is advised not to hit the edges of your container.

If there is an appliance that can make chopping and blending fun, it’s the Control Grip. I used it to make salsa, guacamole, thick creamy soups, and dessert toppings. It’s such a pleasure to use, and it’s easy to care for. The motor body can be cleaned with a damp cloth and must never be immersed in water. The attachments can be washed in hot sudsy water or placed in the dishwasher.

The Breville Control Grip makes culinary chores easily, faster, and simpler. It’s sturdy, well designed, and powerful. Once you’ve used a Breville, you’ll wonder how you’ve managed all those years without one. If you’re looking for an immersion blender for yourself or as a gift, Breville is the brand to beat. It’s available at many retail stores or can be purchased online. Retails for $120.00
