If your home is like most, the first thing turned on in the morning is the coffee maker. Mornings can be rough; we’re groggy, lethargic, and most of us have been drifting along in a lazy, hazy holidayzy mode for a while. But it’s August, and stores are geared up with back to school supplies already. This scenario definitely encroaches on my holiday mindset, but it’s time to getting back to the grind, and Breville is here to help.
Freshly brewed coffee is a great pick-me-up; it helps you make the transition from sluggish to supercharged. Brewing great coffee requires an excellent coffee maker, and for me, it’s the Breville Grind Control. The Breville Grind Control is the rock star of all coffee makers. It allows you to customize every detail when making your perfect pot of coffee from grind size to cup volume.
The Breville Grind Control is a sturdy stainless steel machine, so it’s a lot heavier than most coffee makers. The Grind Control is the first household coffee maker to offer an adjustable grinder and calibration function. It boasts a plethora of other attributes, starting with it’s made with BPA free materials. It has a simplified interface, so it’s a breeze for anyone to use. It has 1100 watts of power and makes up to 12 cups of perfect tailor-made coffee. Plus it’s neutral, edgy, and sleek appearance will blend harmoniously with any kitchen decor.
When you first get your Grind Control, you’ll need to follow the steps in the Quick Start Guide to get your unit ready for brewing. After this action, you can consult your user manual for more information on using this awesome coffee maker.
The Grind Control’s large LCD screen is your information center. Here you see all your options and make your choices. You decide how many cups of coffee you want to brew and your coffee strength. There are eight individual strength settings so you can get coffee just the way you love it. As you fill the water reservoir, the LCD screen shows you precisely how many cups you have. You can set it to brew a single cup or a full pot of coffee. Once all your choices are made, it will tell you how long it will take to brew. I love this; it takes all the guesswork out.
You have the option of using coffee beans or pre-ground coffee. If you choose coffee beans, then the next step is to fill the hopper on top of the unit with your beans. The hopper holds up to 0.5lb of coffee beans and has an integrated stainless steel burr grinder which precision grinds each coffee bean to the chosen particle size, ensuring consistent results with every brew.
There’s a dial on top of the hopper lid that allows you to adjust your grind size; counter-clockwise for finer grounds and clockwise for courser grounds. Don’t worry about overfilling the hopper; it only uses the amount of beans it needs. While it’s grinding the beans, it’s also preheating the water at the same time. I’m so impressed. If you’re using pre-ground coffee, then you’ll put the grounds in the filter and adjust the ‘strength dial’ to pre-ground.
There is no heating plate on the unit, so it comes with a double-walled, stainless steel thermal carafe. You could preheat the carafe with hot water for 30 seconds if you like. It helps maintain the coffee’s optimal drinking temperature and keeps your coffee hotter a little longer. Honestly, I didn’t find it necessary. The carafe kept the coffee quite hot for about 2 hours and at a comfortable drinking temperature for a few hours after that. And the coffee still had a fresh flavor.
If you want to fill your travel or tall mug, just remove the drip tray at the base of the unit, open the swing outdoor and place your mug inside the drip cavity. It’s great if you’re running behind or just want to save money and take your own coffee to work.
You can time the Breville Grind Control on auto-start to make a pot of freshly ground coffee every morning. We enjoy waking to the redolence of fresh coffee; the aroma is heavenly and alluring. The reason the flavor is so delicious is that the beans contain delicate flavor aromatics that dissipate quickly once they are ground. You can only capture these flavor aromatics with freshly ground coffee; it produces a more full-bodied taste, and my family and friends love it.
Breville products are highly esteemed for their quality, durability, innovation, speed, and precision. Once you’ve used a Breville, it will be hard to go back to your other brand. There is no comparison. I’m thrilled to own this coffee maker. If you’re in the market for a high-quality coffee maker, Breville products can be purchased in many retail stores or online. The Breville Control Grind retails for $399.99.
