Breville Precision Brewer Thermal
Summer is here in its full glory and that means lots of sunshine and scorching temperatures. While some may park their coffee maker in the pantry until cooler temperatures arrive, others are making cool, refreshing, delicious drinks. Popular designer beverages like rich and decadent mochas, lattes, coolattas, cappuccinos, frappuccinos, and frothy macchiatos not only taste great, they also help you stay hydrated and give you a boost of energy. They’re also quite costly! But having the right coffee maker at home, like the new Breville Precision Brewer Thermal, means you not only make the best-tasting coffee, you can also craft your own scrumptious fancy drinks and regular brews at home.
Breville Precision Brewer Thermal
If you’re passionate about your coffee, then the Breville Precision Brewer Thermal is going to change your world. It’s the first 60 oz. drip coffee maker will automatically brew craft filter coffee with precision. Enjoy your favorite coffee, regardless of temperature, age, or roast with precise temperature and brewing time. The hot trend right now is cold brew, cold drip, and nitro coffee and this unit can deliver the chill.
This handsome matt brushed stainless steel appliance will blend in seamlessly and harmoniously with any kitchen decor. Its sleek yet warm and low-gloss appearance is fairly resistant to fingerprints and water stains, which is a big issue with stainless steel appliances. It offers 1650 Watts of brewing power and comes with a Thermal Carafe, Coffee Spoon, Cone filter basket insert, Mesh basket filter, Flat-bottom basket filter paper pack (10 pieces), and a Water hardness test strip.
Precision & Adjustable Temperature
Breville is able to create great-tasting coffee by delivering precise control over temperature, flow rate, and contact time. 1. PID Control: Adjustable and precise digital temperature control. 2. Pump: Select from 3 different flow rates to optimize contact time. 3. Thermo-Coil Heating System: delivers water that is purer than typical brewing systems that use aluminum.
The Breville Precision Brewer Thermal has 6 unique brewing modes that allow you to fine-tune and regulate your brew to your own unique taste buds. Preset modes include Gold, Fast, Strong, Iced, Cold Brew, and My Brew. All the modes, except My Brew, are automatically preset to make you a perfectly balanced brew, all you have to do is add your coffee and water and press start. This option simplifies the process and eliminates guesswork, which makes it an appealing feature.
Once you select your mode, insert the proper filter, either the cone or the flat bottom, then press start. The choice of filter is reflective of the volume of coffee you make. If you’re making 2 – 8 cups of coffee, it’s recommended you use the cone filter. More than 8 cups use the mesh filter cone or the flat-bottomed brew basket with a large paper filter.
6 Brewing Modes
Fast Mode means you can brew 12 cups of coffee in 7 minutes. How does that differ from the standard coffee pot? Regular coffee makers can take anywhere from 10 – 12 to brew coffee, so the Breville Precision Brewer Thermal is a lot faster. And when you’re in a hurry, that’s important.
Gold Mode means that Breville has been certified by the SCA ( Specialty Coffee Association) as meeting their strict protocol. This unit automatically adjusts the water temperature and brew time to meet their standards.
Strong Mode is just as its name implies. It amplifies the flavor and delivers a stronger and richer coffee for those who love the bean.
Over Ice Mode allows you to create a refreshing cool brew made from freshly brewed coffee poured over a glass of ice. The coffee is more concentrated and stronger because the ice dilutes its flavor, and weak coffee wouldn’t satisfy any coffee connoisseur.
Craft coffee, just the way you like it!
My Brew Mode allows you to customize every single brew setting to your tastes starting with bloom time. I’m not a coffee snob, so I’ve never heard of this jargon associated with coffee before. Seriously, I haven’t, but I was curious about what this meant. A coffee bloom is the fast release of CO2 (carbon dioxide) gas that occurs when hot water initially hits the ground coffee beans.
We found that setting the bloom time to 30 seconds reduced any bitterness significantly, making a more enjoyable and flavor balanced cup of coffee. While my husband loves all kinds of coffee, I’ve always found the bitterness unappealing. The reduction in bloom time made a difference and I really enjoyed the flavor, it was mild and very aromatic.
The next step is deciding on a specific temperature. We kept it at the default temperature of 205Âș F, but you can change that by turning the selector dial. The 3rd step is the flow rate and we also used the default medium settings. The Pour Over setting settings requires an additional pour-over adaptor such as the Hario V60 or Kalita Wave adaptors, these are sold separately as an accessory.
Cold Brew uses cold water and a longer brewing time, typically anywhere from 4 – 14 hours. You can make up to 20 ounces of great tasting cold coffee by programming the Breville Precision Thermal for several hours. The machine will begin brewing the water without the heating element. Once the brewing time is complete, it will automatically dispense the cold brew into the carafe.
We found the Breville Precision Thermal very easy to operate, program, and clean. Who knew you could make coffee in so many flavorful ways. We’ve been having a lot of fun creating cold coffee brews and some cappuccinos and frappuccinos for a fraction of the cost. We love our Breville!
