Ah, the Christmas holidays, I love them and I’m totally in the festive spirit. The stores are sparkling with yuletide decor, holiday music is playing, and the shelves are bursting with every kind of gift idea. Where do you start? This year I’m starting with kitchen products that will not only enhance and simplify my life, but they’ll also last me years to come. This means choosing quality, high-end products like Breville.
Breville manufactures small appliances and is recognized worldwide for its quality. I confess I have coveted their products for a long time. Well, this year, I got to try out the Breville Smart Oven Pro, and I’m completely smitten.
With a name like the Smart Oven Pro, it implies that it’s no ordinary convection oven, and you’d be right. This sleek little 0.8 cu. ft. beauty has a plethora of attributes that busy homemakers and chefs alike would appreciate. I can’t go through them all, but I’ll mention my favorites.
Its sleek stainless finish is appealing, easy to clean, and will blend in with any kitchen decor. The control panel is the brains of the unit. It has several dials and buttons that allow you to program the Smart Oven Pro with your preferences. The LCD screen is quite large, so it’s easy to read the temperature, time, and list of functions. I thought it was great that there is a temperature conversion button; you can choose either Celsius or Fahrenheit.
It comes with several accessories: enamel broiling rack, enamel baking pan, non-stick pizza pan, a crumb tray, and an operating manual. There are other accessories for the Smart Oven Pro that can be purchased separately, but for my needs, the included ones are ideal.
The main feature of the Smart Oven Pro is its cooking technology, Element IQ, which adjusts the power of the heating elements, so food cooks more evenly and faster. It has heating elements above and below to ensure perfect and steady cooking. The oven has ten preset functions in its memory, so it takes all the guesswork out for you. That being said, you’ll still have to experiment with temperature and time. If you customize your settings, they’ll remain in the memory until changed or the oven is unplugged.
You may have to preheat and adjust the rack position reflective of the function and depending on what you are making. For example, with pizza, you need to preheat, place the rack in the middle position, and adjust the setting to match the size of your pizza. Just a note, when your oven is finished preheating, the oven light will turn on when it reaches the desired temperature. On setting with no preheating, the oven light will turn on the last 30 seconds of baking time.
If you’re making toast, you can select the degree of light or dark you prefer. I also find it amazing that it will sense frozen foods and make adjustments in cooking time. The manual covers all the details for each function.
Another great feature is the Magnetic Auto-Eject Rack. With the rack in the middle position, it will automatically eject halfway out of the oven when you open the door. This allows you to remove your baked goods easily. There’s also an interior light for sneak peeks instead of opening the door to look inside. How awesome is that!
One function I really love is the slow cooker function. It can be programmed to cook anywhere from four – ten hours and then will automatically shut off and keep your food warm. Not everyone in my family eats at the same time, so I really appreciate this feature.
This clever appliance allows you to bake, broil, roast, toast, and warm up any food. It’s a Smart Oven alright; it’s several appliances in one and a serious game-changer in the kitchen. It’s much faster to use than your standard oven and a lot more energy-efficient. I have used the Smart Oven Pro to make toast, muffins, cookies, a casserole, and pizza.
I love the Smart Oven Pro, it a word, it’s impressive! This weekend kicks off our first of many family get-togethers and holiday parties. Having the Smart Oven Pro assures me that the food I’m serving will be well cooked and ready on time.
There are a lot of appliances and kitchen gadgets on store shelves. Most of them do not live up to their claims or break a week after their warranty runs out. Breville is a name that instills confidence, performance, durability, and reliability. Swing by their site and check out all the awesome kitchen appliances they offer. If you’re in the market for a multi-purpose appliance, I highly recommend the Smart Oven Pro because you deserve the best. It’s available at most major retails stores or online. It retails for $369.99. Happy Holidays!
