Brother PTouch PT-H100 Labeler

It’s really hard to believe school starts next week, in some provinces, it’s already started. Being organized and prepared will certainly make the transition from being back into a routine, much smoother. The stores are filled with parents buying school supplies,  electronics, and clothes. These essentials can add up, so keeping track of them is really important. One way to do this is by using labels.

The Brother PTouch PT-H100 labeler is a two-toned, self-contained, handheld printer that boasts oodles of attributes. This model comes with a sample cartridge of 12 mm laminated tape, a user guide, and a tape guide. You’ll need to get 6 AAA batteries, as these are not provided.

The first thing you’ll notice is how nice and comfortable it fits in your hand. You can quite easy to wrap your fingers around the sides, making it incredibly portable, and it’s also relatively lightweight. It has a large LCD display screen and easy-to-read keys. With the one-touch key feature, you have access to a plethora of ideas for your labels. You can choose from a selection of fonts, styles, frames, and patterns.

*One-touch keys – quickly access font sizes, styles, frames and patterns

*Cable labelling feature to organize your wires and cables

You start off with your font size and once you make your selection, just press the enter key. Next, you move on to the font size, make your selection, and press the enter key. If you want some pizzazz to your label, you can choose from a number of different frames. When I was scrolling through the frame choices, I noticed some of them did not match the ones shown in the user guide, so perhaps each model may have a different selection. As you continue to make labels, you can peek at the back of the labeler, which has a see-through window, to see how much tape you have left. Incidentally, there are cheat symbols on the back to use as a quick reference.

You can print one or two-line labels and have the option of using Accented Characters or the Deco Mode templates. This labeler will use tape cassettes with 3.5mm, 6mm, 9mm, and 12mm tape. If you decide to use the Deco Mode, you have to use the 12mm tape only. You have the option of adjusting the margins to full, half, and narrow. You can also save up to 9 labels at one time. Once you’ve created your label, you simply press the print key and then the green scissor button on top. That’s it, uber easy!

We had a lot of fun trying out the different fonts and frames. I have one room that I use as an office and a craft room. I’m sure you can imagine how messy and disorganized crafting can get, so I end up dumping things into plastic tubs and completely forgetting what’s inside them. We went through all the tubs and labeled everyone so all confusion has been eliminated. I also took the time to label my files so now I can read them clearly. The labels look so attractive and professional, and it’s a good incentive to get more things in ship-shape order. It feels so good to arrange, assemble, systematize, and label my unruly room.

I was really pleased to see how durable and easy to peel the labels are. They will adhere to anything inside or outside your home. If you want to label clothing, you can purchase their Fabric Iron-On-tape which is non-laminated. What a great idea, I don’t know how many mitts, toques, books, DVDs, CDs, etc., we’ve lost in the school system. If they were found, there was no way of returning them to us because they weren’t labeled. Think of the money you’d save with all your school supplies labeled.

You can get a variety of other tapes like the Extra Strength Adhesive Tape for harsh environments or uneven surfaces. They also carry Flexible ID Tape for wrapping and flagging cables, wires, pipes, and anything with a round surface. I was excited to see that they carry Acid-Free Adhesive Tape for scrapbooking and photo albums. I absolutely love that you can get the tape in so many beautiful colors, this adds variety, creativity, and sparkle to your products.

Another great feature is that the labeler will automatically shut off after five minutes of idle time. I’m all for saving the batteries and money. This handy little labeler is perfect for the home, school, and office. No home should be without one!
