Cake Pop & Donut Hole Bakery Review
I don’t do a lot of entertaining, but when I do I like it to be a special occasion. I like to have a big spread of different foods that look good, taste good, and are fun to make. I always have the usual veggie trays, fruit cups, and crackers and dips/spreads on hand. For desserts, I like to make fun yet healthy recipes that are appealing. I was introduced to a new and novel product that would definitely add interest, fun, and uniqueness to any party.
Nostalgia Electrics carries lots of products designed for entertainment and parties. I was given the Cake Pop & Donut Hole Bakery to try out. This cute little bakery creates perfect sized donut holes that are open to your imagination and creativity. I got to try a few of my vegan recipes on this appliance for my New Year’s get together.
The Cake Pop Bakery is very easy to use and clean. It has a non-stick surface that requires very little maintenance. The appliance has to be preheated for at least 3 minutes, the green light will turn on when it’s ready to be used. This little machine gets hot so you must use your oven mitts or you will get burned!
You fill one side with your batter and close the lid. The batter will rise to fill the other half of the holes in the appliance. I found it takes approximately 7 – 8 minutes to bake depending on your batter. When done, you lift the lid and use a plastic spoon to remove the donut holes.
My first recipe was a Blueberry muffin mixture that took 7 minutes to bake perfectly. They baked evenly and had the slightest golden brown color. For these muffin holes, I did not put any icing or high sugar ingredient so it was a perfect low-calorie fun food. I put them on a serving dish and I put a few on sticks so they look like Blueberry muffin lollipops.
For variety, I thought I would see if one of my biscuit recipes would work. I don’t add sugar to my biscuits either, I use fruit like raisins instead. The biscuit batter is a little thicker so I was really hoping it would turn out okay. They took 8 minutes to bake and they turned out beautifully.
I also tried a cake batter that would appeal to the little kids in our family. I used an ordinary white cake mix and it took 7 minutes to bake. They came out perfectly as well. After they cooled a bit I dipped the cake rounds in a little bit of cinnamon and sugar and dashed them slightly with decorative sprinkles. I put these on the stick because the kids just loved the idea of eating their cake on them. All of these were a hit at my party!
Our family loves the Cake Pop & Donut Hole Bakery and I have used it several more times with my biscuit and muffin recipes adding different kinds of fruit each time. They have all turned out beautifully and are just so cute. They are the perfect size for little kids who cannot eat a whole muffin and perfect for us who are watching our curves.
