Castello Cheese
Ah, the holiday season, as the songs says “With kids jingle-belling, and everyone telling you, be of good cheer! It’s the most wonderful time of the year! ” Amid the rush and bustle of shopping and baking, we’re also planning, arranging and confirming our get-togethers and parties. What better way to be of good cheer, than to invite friends and family over for a festive spread, it’s a cozy way to reconnect. This holiday season we’re spreading the joy with a Castello Cheese feast.
Castello has been around since 1893 creating traditional and innovative new cheese recipes with natural ingredients. They’re also the makers of several popular cheese brands like Arla, Tre Stelle, Apetina, and Arla Dofino. Each of these brands has their own unique and flavorful products. We love them all, so it’s really hard to say which is our favorite, it all depends on what our palate is craving at any given moment.
I think we’d all agree that no party is the same without a plethora of various cheese’s and Castello has made it so easy to create an impressive platter. Our first get together is the last weekend in November and we’re all prepared with our brand choices and our new Cheeseboard.
The Tre Stelle cutting board comes with a three-piece stainless steel set of cheese tools, a cleaver, plane and knife. This set is a must-have for any party, you’ll need them to slice, dice and spread your cheese. They’re incredibly handy and I was surprised at how sharp they are, there’s no struggle to divvy up the cheese.
The Dofina Havarti comes in Creamy, Light, and Jalapeno. It’s available in loaves, wedges, and cylinders; we actually prefer the cylinder, that way we can cut our slices to the desired thickness. The Creamy is semi-soft, the Light is firmer, and the Jalapeno has just the right amount of kick. They’re all great on crackers, sandwiches, in sauces, casseroles, fondues, pizzas and the list could go on and on.
Apetina has a wide range of white cheese products and they come in abundance of flavors to choose from. Our personal favorites are Feta in Oil with Red Peppers, Feta in Oil with Sundried Tomato and Feta in Oil with Black Olives. They’re so creamy and packed with a lovely blend of herbs and spices. They can be put in salads, in soups, in a stir-fry or sandwich wrap or you can eat them right out of the container like me. Your guests will be delighted with your spread decked out with these party favorites.
Aside from a cheese platter, I also love to offer my yummy baked goods, like cookies, cheesecake, cupcakes, and pinwheels. With Tre Stelle’s measuring cups, my baking is easy and smooth. They’re heavy-duty and made from stainless, so they’ll be around for years and years. Plastic measuring cups discolor and warp after umpteen uses, so stainless steel is the way go.
Thanks to Castello, I don’t have to work so hard to make a tasty display and create some cherished and memorable moments. That’s what the holidays are all about. fa la la la la HaPpY HoLiDaYs!
