Creating Cozy Wearables & Festive Rattles for the Holidays

I love this time of year with the frosty weather and frigid temperatures. It affords me the opportunity to be inside and do what I love to do… crochet and thumb through my delightful collection of eclectic patterns. Now that the holiday season is here, I’m eager to make cozy wearables and enchanting baby items as gifts for Christmas. Happily, I have lots of yarn tucked away in every corner of my home, just waiting for a creative spark. I confess, I love yarn and I enjoy squeezing the soft and fluffy textures and pondering what I should make first. For me, part of the excitement of making holiday gifts is gazing dreamy-eyed for new patterns on Etsy! Finding new projects that I can make for family and friends gives me such joy.

I’ve connected and collaborated with several Etsy designers and I’m in awe of their talent. These global designers have created some of the most beautiful and innovative crochet patterns on the market and I invite you to come and explore their creations. There is still time to create handmade holiday gifts for those we love. Here are more of my favorite crochet patterns, I hope you enjoy them as well.

I live in Canada, a country recognized as the home of winter. We get brutally cold temperatures during the winter season so that means bundling up and dressing warm. Although I have lots of warm hats, I like a new style each year. I found this Winter Hat pattern by Agatha from ACrazySheep on Etsy and fell in love with everything about it.

This trendy yet timeless Winter Hat pattern is brimming with personality. I love all the different stitch textures, the unique shape, and the crocheted pom poms. Hat and toques don’t always cover our ears 100%, which is why the ear flaps are ideal. They guarantee ears of all shapes and sizes will be kept warm. This hat has all the hallmarks of a garment that both kids and adults will enjoy wearing. The pattern offers sizes newborn to adult! What a wonderful gift this hat would be to give this holiday season! Right now this pattern is on sale for 20% off!

I don’t know how many mittens I’ve knit and crocheted over the years…hundreds. But, kids will be kids and by the middle of winter, one mitt always goes astray. So I like to make several extra sets just in case. I also like to make several sets to give during the holiday season. This year, I’m making the Amelia Mittens by April from TheEasyDesign on Etsy.

The Amelia Mitten crochet pattern includes 5 sizes, so you can make them for everyone in your family. I adore the lovely textured design, it’s stylish, modern and non-gender. Why some of my family and friends are not so fussy, I do have some that like to make mittens match the color of their winter coats. Make them in solid colors, ombres, or stripes. Get creative and blend harmonious colors to make those one-of-a-kind mittens. The pattern is easy to follow and features some photo tutorials for those visual learners. These cuties were created by Inna from FairyToysByInnaChi on Etsy and I just love them. They will add so much joy to a baby’s world.

These holiday-inspired rattles will provide some festive stimuli for babies this Christmas. With bright colors and enchanting characters, baby’s will be captivated while exploring their sense of discovery by trying to hold and grab these sweet rattles. I like rattles because they have a dual purpose, they’re also great as teethers as the baby grows.

I really love the designs of each character. The Gingerbread Bears has a layer of royal icing on his head, making him look delicious and tempting. The little Snowman has an adorable little carrot-like nose, a magical hat, and a cozy scarf. The Christmas Gnome is sporting a festive striped hat, long white beard, and an enchanting big nose. What a perfect gift to give baby this year! The final size of the rattles is about 12 – 13 cm! Right now, this 3-in-1 Rattle pattern is on sale for 30% off!
