Etsy for Dummies
Many people today are supplementing their income by crafting. Using your skills and talents to create beautiful handmade items is great for generating a second income. There are places like crafts sales, church fairs, etc. where these items can be sold. But, it can be tough to reach more people.
Now with the use of the internet and online stores, selling our homemade item is very easy. One remarkable online site is Etsy. Esty is an online e-commerce marketplace where crafters gather, showcase, and sell their wares. The products sold cover every aspect of the art, craft and creative world. You name it, it’s made and sold on Etsy.
Starting your own Esty store can be a bit of a challenge if you don’t know where to start. Esty for Dummies is a book designed to get you on your way and become part of the Esty community. They offer expert advice and lots of tips and techniques so you a successful shop owner.
The book starts you off with grasping the basics of Etsy and signing up. You will be taken through all the steps. You will be taught how to buy and sell, navigate your account, and importantly maintaining privacy and safety.
One of the biggest reasons a business might not get a lot of traffic is because their storefront lacks interests. Chapter 8 will help you create a shop page that will compel viewers to enter.
The book also covers shop policies, setting reasonable prices, and using proper clear photos to feature your items. Equally important is writing interesting and tantalizing titles. Chapter 23 covers the Ten Terrific Tips for Esty sellers which I found really beneficial. One tip was to learn to say no. Etsy owners may get people who want something for nothing. You have to learn that it’s perfectly okay to say no and judge what feels right for business.
I thought this book was extremely useful. It’s loaded with great advice to the newbie or seasoned entrepreneurs looking to build an online craft business from scratch. With over 2 million members Etsy is already becoming a successful venue to pitch and advertise your products.
