Jillian Michaels, we’ve all heard and feared that name! She recognized as one of the toughest fitness trainers in America. We’ve seen her on The Biggest Loser and Losing It with Jillian. She’s written several books, has copious fitness videos and has helped people in all fitness levels. Bottom line, her workouts are brutal, but they yield results. She has a new DVD that recently hit the market, Hot Body Healthy Mommy, which is geared towards getting your body back into shape after having your baby.
In this DVD, Jillian along with Andrea Orbeck, who is a premier fitness expert as well as a post-pregnancy trainer, have created a program that will get new moms into the best shape regardless of their current fitness level. Special consideration for C-sections and diastasis recti have been implemented into the workouts.
Always check with your doctor before starting any workout program. When you get the green light, start with the modified exercises. Each workout will have a gentler version of each exercise, just follow along until you build your strength. When you’re stronger, you can transition into the regular workouts. There are three workouts, and they’re twenty minutes each. They are divided into body parts, upper body, arms, chest & back, core, and buns and thighs. It’s suggested you do each workout once a week and work up to twice a week. These workouts will morph you into the tougher workouts by Jillian or the supermodel workouts by Andrea. I found these exercises a lot more pleasant and easier to do. You still get a serious workout, but you can handle them. Aside from new moms, these exercises are fabulous for anyone who wants to get back into shape.
No workout is complete without a yoga mat. New at Gaiam is the Elephant Premium Printed Reversible Yoga Mat (5mm). It’s turquoise with an adorned elephant on one side and orange with motifs on the other side. Choose the side that reflects your inner zen.
This extra-thick premium reversible yoga mat provides comfort and a stable, non-slip surface for your yoga practice, stretches or other exercises. There’s nothing more frustrating when you’re trying to get into a pose and your feet are slipping. You can’t get aligned or perform the pose or exercise properly. I found this mat offers great grip whether you’re barefoot or have socks on. It also does not have a toxic smell like most other yoga mats. It’s free of the top six most harmful phthalates, so it’s one of the safest yoga mats on the market. From time to time, I’ll have small children over for a visit, and they will sit, roll or lay down on the mat so I only want products that promote health. Plus I also have a pet who feel it’s their right to use the mat as well.
Combining these two products into your daily exercise routine will get you on your way to a healthier and slimmer you. You can pick both of these fitness tools up on the Gaiam website.
