Healthy Slow Cooker Gluten Free

In our quick paced lives, many of us use the excuse of being too busy to prepare a healthy and nutritious meal. Hence, we opt-in for microwaved processed food, or equally as unhealthy, fast foods. We need to get a grasp on the reality of, we are what we eat, from the inside out. Our food, nutrient-dense or not, will have a profound effect on our health if it hasn’t already. There’s an abundance of resources out there that can help us eat healthily and still fit meal prep into our jammed packed schedule. One such resource is a new cookbook I’m perusing, the Healthy Slow Cooker – 135 Gluten-Free Recipes for Health and Wellness.

The emphasis in this cookbook is on preparing and eating healthy, wholesome, and nutrient-dense meals from breakfast to dessert, on a regular basis. The cookbook starts off by explaining the basics of your slow cooker and how to use it effectively so all your recipes turn out fabulous. It’s broken into ten different chapters, each filled with a multitude of recipes and sensible advice. You’ll see “Mindful Morsels” and “Natural Wonders” throughout the whole cookbook, that share nutritional and character information about various foods, vitamins, spices, herbs, and so much more. I find these incredibly interesting and valuable. For instance, did you know that consuming beet juice can lower your blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease?

There are oodles of colorful images that will whet your appetite and pique your curiosity. Each recipe is lovingly and clearly written and explained. They offer lots of tips and even a variation if you want to switch it up a bit.

We tried a few of the recipes and loved the enormous flavors they offer. The Caldo Verde is so easy to make and soothing to a tired soul. We switched a few of the ingredients with what we had in our home and the family asked for seconds. It’s wonderful to load your slow cooker with healthy and vibrant ingredients, set the timer, and come home to a savory and flavory dinner. Eating healthy couldn’t get any easier.
