After a long and beautiful summer, it’s hard to settle down and transition into autumn. It means more inside time to prepare for the months ahead. October came fast – too fast really. Soon we will celebrate our Canadian Thanksgiving and Halloween will be upon us before we know it.
Let’s Tell a Story! Fairy Tale Adventure
Once upon a time in a land far, far away, there lived a … Do you remember reading an enchanted story that had this opening line when you were a kid? It was the most wonderful opening a story could have. Children of all ages love to read fairy tales. They are filled with adventure, good and evil characters, magic folks like fairies, trolls, dragons, giants, and witches, magical objects like wands and potions, and they expand a child’s world in the realm of make-believe.
Kids have vivid imaginations and they can quickly and easily get absorbed in the theme of any story. They may even play out a different ending for a story. That is the premise of my newest storybook, Let’s Tell a Story! Fairy Tale Adventure. It’s filled with everything a child needs to create their very own amazing fairy tale adventure.
Here is how this interactive book works. At the top of each page, you will be asked a question, like Which of these Heroes do you want to be? You will choose one character from the many on that page. You could be a prince, a mermaid, a wicked witch, or a gnome, or maybe you want to be a pixie! To help you make a decision, there are prompt questions at the bottom of the page for readers to ponder. They can include anything from the personality of the character, what their voices sound like, what you might hear or smell around you, what the weather is like, and so forth. With all these elements taken into consideration, you will have created the onset of your personal fairy tale.
But, it doesn’t stop there. Turn the page and you will be asked another question. What will your character wear? From the page, you will choose any garment and accessory that fits the personality of your fairy tale character. After all, we want him or her to look smart and dashing, right? From there, kids will make another about their character’s destination, members of his/her crew, the kind of journey to embark on, people and magic folks they will meet and so forth. Kids will have a blast creating whimsical and entertaining fairy tales like no other. Let’s Tell a Story is a wonderful addition to any home library. The ending will never be the same!
