Once upon a time in a magical realm far, far, away, there lived… This opening line has captured the minds and hearts of children of all ages. It has encouraged kids to open a storybook and experience the fable or fairytale with wonder and focused fascination. Reading to our kids right from infancy will help them develop a love for words, storytelling, and books. It will also spark their young imaginations to dream, pretend, and roll play. I love board books. They’re small, easy to grip, and share a compact story with vivid images, large font, and age-appropriate content. Board books are made from super sturdy paperboard and can tolerate lots of little hand handling. I recently discovered a line of board books called Lit for Little Hands. These endearing little books feature some of the most popular stories ever written. Plus, they’re rich with interactive features that will intrigue babies and toddlers. Here are a few that your infants will enjoy.

How many times have you read or watched The Secret Garden? It’s a classic that we never seem to tire of. Lit for Little Hands Secret Garden board book is transport children back in time when horse and buggies, lanterns, and veiled family secrets prevailed. Orphaned Mary Lennox must go live with her uncle at Misselthwaite Manor. It’s a large home with a hundred rooms, but Mr. Craven closed most of them when his wife died. But, there are many secrets, including a hidden garden. After finding a key to the garden, Mary and her cousin Colin restore it to its original glory. There are interactive wheels, pull tabs, and flaps that kids can maneuver to change the scene of the page. The story is entertaining and the images are bold, colorful, and entrancing. Kids will want to read it over and over!

Peter Pan Board book

The enchanting story of Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, and the Darling kids, has been a family favorite for many years. Babies and toddlers will enjoy the epic adventure to Neverland.
