Raw Essence Recipes Review

I think it’s safe to say that the majority of people eat because they love the taste of a certain food. It can taste so good that we can overeat. It’s believed that only processed, fast foods, high fat, and high sugar foods are the tastiest but that is debatable. To some, it may be but is it the healthiest?

I’m a firm believer in eating for health. The right foods can be medicine and help us attain better health. I’ve personally made a conscious decision to make healthier choices. All eating plans are good with the right high-quality ingredients. One option that many people overlook, is eating raw vegan foods. You may think it’s got to be boring or time-consuming but nothing could be further from the truth.

I recently reviewed Raw Essence, a guide to 180 raw vegan delectable recipes. Using this book will definitely take you out of your comfort zone but you will find how much fun and tasty these recipes are. You will learn how to make use of your dehydrator and even learn how to ferment.

Chapters included in this book are:

I’ve had a dehydrator for only one year and have scarcely used it so I took the opportunity to try out a few of their recipes specific for dehydration. My family eats a lot of crackers but they contain a lot of salt. I was excited to try the Raw Essence Sun-Dried Tomato Crackers recipe. The ingredients are fairly basic and most homes will have flax seeds. You put all the ingredients in your blender until it’s well blended. Spread on a paraflex sheet evenly and set the dehydrator to 105 degrees and dry for 12 hrs. The aroma that permeated throughout my home was divine. They tasted equally as delicious as they smelled and went great with soup, salad and dips.

I love, love hummus and most recipes call for cooked chickpeas. In RawEssence the recipe Hummus Sun Spread calls for almonds and zucchini as the main ingredients. The nuts have to be soaked for 8 hrs and then you put all the ingredients in a food processor until well mixed and creamy. This hummus is absolutely delicious. My family used it on our new Sun-Dried Tomato Cracker and loved the combination. They also used it on pasta, rice, in nacho’s and as a dip. It’s a versatile food that can be integrated into anyone’s meal choice. We really enjoy this recipe and have made it often.

My family loves spaghetti and meatballs and there is a fabulous Meatless Meat Balls recipe that will delight everyone’s taste buds. This recipe calls for sunflower seeds that have to be soaked for 8 hrs as well. You blend all ingredients in the blender and make small patties. These are dehydrated for 12 hrs at 105 degrees. These little veggie darlings are sooo delicious that you can’t stop eating them. Who said you can’t get your protein with your veggies and replace an animal product in the process. They tasted great alone and with pasta sauce.

Part of life is about embracing different foods and lifestyles. Why not broaden out and try some healthy raw vegan dishes that are rich in vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. And then see how different you will feel. I find I have a lot more energy and love the crunch of fresh fruits and veggies.

The Raw Essence recipes are so easy to follow and they have oodles of beautiful colored photos so you can see what the recipe will look like. It’s an awesome book!
