Redmond Clay

When we think about detoxifying our body a lot of ideas may spring to mind. We can clean up our diet, take herbs and cleansing supplements, drink more water, exercise, dry brush our body and sweat it out in a sauna. How many of you would have thought about using Bentonite Clay? Bentonite clay is recognized worldwide for its detoxification and healing properties. Clay therapies have been used for thousands of years by indigenous people for internal and external cleansing and healing.

One of the best sources of bentonite clay is available at Redmond Clay. Their motto is “We eat clay, and wear it too.” Bentonite is formed from weathering of volcanic ash and there are different types, each named after an element such as potassium, sodium, or calcium. The Redmond Clay has an equal calcium and sodium balance. Their clay comes from Redmond, Utah and it’s crushed up from its raw state.

Redmond’s bentonite clay can be used both externally and internally and has remarkable attributes. Bentonite clay has the ability to absorb and remove pathogenic viruses, toxins, heavy metals, chemicals, pollutants. pesticides, parasites, and impurities.

Internally it has been used for digestive issues like acid reflux, gas and bloating. Just put a teaspoon in a glass of water and drink it. It can also be used for diarrhea, vomiting, rinsing your mouth and brushing your teeth. Externally it can be used as a poultice for bites, burns, cut and stings. You can add a 1/4 cup to your bath water, use it as a facial mask, use it as baby powder, as a deodorant, and so many more uses.

Redmond Clay carries a bunch of bentonite clay products for our convenience. It’s available in its loose form so you can prepare it yourself. They have a fabulous video that shows you how to make a quart jar full. You will end up with a smooth creamy product with no lumps to deal with.

In late August I embarked on a 90-day juice cleanse and part of the process involves drinking lots of freshly squeezed juice and taking a couple of tsp of the Redmond Clay every day. It produces an increase in toxic elimination which is so beneficial for your bodies. I would definitely recommend taking this at least once a day.

Another of their great products is the Redmond Clay Facial Mud. This mud is re-hydrated bentonite clay put in a tube for easy use. Its purpose is to cleanse and clarify your skin. It will deep clean your skin and remove all debris, toxins and excess oil. It will also aid in shrinking large pores. I have an issue with large pores on my nose and this product appears to be helping. I apply it once or twice a week and leave it on for 20 – 30 minutes. My skin always looks and feels so much softer and brighter after each treatment. I really love this product and would not consider being without it, it’s part of my beauty regime now.

Redmond Clay also carries Real Salt. Many people are unaware that not all salts are equal. Table salt is highly processed and contains additives and unnatural ingredients such as anti-caking agents and sugar. Real Salt comes from an ancient sea bed in Central Utah, where for more than 30 years we’ve delivered completely natural sea salt — nothing added, nothing is taken away. That means you get more than 60 trace minerals in a delicious, healthy salt that is never chemically treated, bleached, or kiln-dried.

Their salt has a pinkish color but you’ll also see tiny flecks of a darker color as well, these are trace minerals. I personally would rather be using a genuine salt when baking or cooking. Our bodies can become nutrient and mineral-depleted depending on our diet so using this salt will help put these back into our system. I actually like the taste and you really don’t need too much to make a difference in a meal. If you’re going to use salt, this would be the one I’d opt for.
