Small Gestures to Remind People How Much You Love Them!

Valentine’s Day is all about expressing and honoring the heartfelt love and affection we have for the people in our lives. For the most part, it’s been focused on romantic love, but, nowadays it goes beyond enamoration. Spreading the love vibe also includes respect and appreciation for family, friends, coworkers, and even neighbors. In the past, we’ve shown our ardor with chocolate, candy, jewelry, and perhaps a cute fuzzy stuffie. But some of us might not dig these options and feel inspired to go beyond these classic gifts and look for simple yet effective ways to share messages of love and tenderness. If this is you, here are a few ideas to springboard off so you can show someone how special they are.

💕Send a Card❤

Put your electronics down and go find a special Valentine’s card for each person you are fond of. Crack open the card and add a special message, thoughtful words, a poem, or some intimate sweet nothings. Or if you are crafty, make your own cards for that extra personal touch. Then mail it! No inboxing, no texting, no tweeting! Sending an endearing card through snail mail will show the receiver just how much thought you put into a special card to them.

❤Make Baked Goods💖

Breaking bread and cooking your family’s favorite dish is a great way to show them how special they are. But, this year let’s go beyond baking for our loved ones. Baked goods are always welcomed and people enjoy this thoughtful gesture. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or time-consuming, just a simple recipe. Make a casserole for your neighbors, whip up some muffins for your coworkers and cookies for classmates, create yummy sandwiches for a senior’s home, or smoothies for your exercise class, and the list goes on.

❤Give Flowers💕

Flowers are a big part of Valentine’s Day and giving them will absolutely brighten someone’s day. Although roses are the most popular flower, feel free to give a bouquet of different blooms like carnations, lilies, orchids, sunflowers, or tulips, or maybe give a plant.

❤Special Memento💖

A picture speaks a thousand words. We all have fond memories of vacations, special places, or memorable events that we’ve enjoyed with various people in our lives. Pull out some of those photos, or ticket stubs, or mementos or locations on a map and memorialize them in a gorgeous canvas print. Send them out and remind the receivers how much you cherish these fond memories.

💕Sticky Notes❤

Sticky notes are a unique way for you to sneak in messages of adoration. Their uses are endless. Put a colorful sticky note in your kid’s or spouse’s lunches, on your pillows, bathroom mirror, frig, front door, car dash, computer, or water bottle. Use your imagination!

❤Spend Time With Someone💖

One of the kindest gestures we can show loved ones is by spending time with them. Turn off your gadgets and go for a walk with your kids — or put a puzzle together, play some games, color or read some books. Take your parents out for lunch or a drive in the country. Get together with your best friend and craft together —knit, crochet, spin, or do some origami. Pull out vacation videos and photos and reminisce. With certain health restrictions still in place in some areas, your phone is a big asset. Call your family or a friend you haven’t seen in a long time and ask how they are.
