Spring and Easter Inspired Storybooks

Spring is a time for new growth, new births, and new beginnings. It’s when baby animals are welcomed into the world, birds return and flowers break through the earth. It’s also the time when Easter is celebrated. A variety of animals are affiliated with both spring and Easter and kids just naturally resonate with them.

Kids also enjoy reading stories about animals and this spring season I’ve added several new storybooks to our family library. They’re not specifically about Easter, but they reflect the cute and fuzzy critters naturally associated with spring.

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Lamb

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Lamb storybook

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Lambs is about a little girl who mixes up two different nursery rhymes, Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and Mary Had a Little Lamb. Mary is good-natured and doesn’t seem to mind, but the lamb, on the other hand, is a little indignant. As Mary chimes the rhyme with erroneous errors, the lamb is annoyed and corrects her. With a twinkle in his eye, the star also teases the lamb, who really doesn’t have a good sense of humor, about his rhyme being a song. The star really knows how to push the lamb’s buttons. Does Mary ever get it right? The bright and colorful illustrations encourage kids to read along and participate in this cute story. Recommended for kids aged 5 – 8.

He has a hankering for his mama’s apple pie, but he needs to pick a wagon full of this juicy sweet fruit. He finds an apple tree full of apples, but he can’t reach them. He needs the help of the reader. As kids read through the pages, they can follow the instructions using the ribbon to help the bunny get the apples. Young children will also learn some action words like grab, place, hold, turn, make and several more. Now that the bunny has the apples, kids can help the bunny get home with more active participation on their part. The kids will have fun rocking and tilting the book at the bunny’s request. It’s a charming story for kids ages 3 – 5.
