The 30 Minute Vegan Soup’s On
There’s nothing cozier than being greeted by a piping hot bowl of delicious soup, on a cold wintery day. The simmering aroma permeates the home and stirs your senses. During the winter months, I like to make lots of tasty soups; they’re healthy, hearty, and filling. Soups offer a sense of calm after a hectic day and warm up your body so quickly. My newest cookbook, The 30 Minute Vegan Soup’s On offers over 100 quick and easy recipes for all seasons.
The onset of the book explains that there is an art to creating soup. It offers different techniques, formats, and countless versions that are provided as a tutorial. So there’s more to just tossing some broth and veggie into a pot and hoping for the best. It goes into a list of special ingredients and how they enhance your soup recipes. I’ve never been able to build a perfect soup from scratch, so reading the ‘how to use this book’ was enlightening. I’ve also never had a basic soup stock, so I was really happy to see several featured in this book. Throughout the book, you’ll see ‘Chef’s Tips and Trick’, punctuating the pages, each one sharing some valuable insight. Although the book says, 30-minute soups, that time is a little deceiving. It does not include prep time which can take quite a while.
The 30 Minute Vegan Soup On is broken down into sections that feature different ingredients and bases. I am a vegan and find I always have to substitute an animal product. It’s so nice to just follow these recipes as they are without any fussing and know they will turn out perfectly. Part Two is my favorite; the recipes are simple and easy to create. Plus, they don’t have any odd ingredients that require a specialty store.
Other sections deal with adding more ingredients like pasta’s, grains, beans, corn, vegan meat substitutes and dumplings. There are even a few raw soups like Spicy Strawberry Soup and Raw Chocolate Mint Soup with Raspberries for summer. Like smoky flavors? Then the BBQ Tempeh and Roasted Corn Stew will satisfy this desire.
I thought this book offered a wide variety of options and flavors. There are only a few photos to savor, but they are deliciously appealing. Cookbooks make great gifts, and this one would be ideal for anyone’s culinary collection.
