The Complete Idiot’s Guide to The Coconut Diet
Have you ever picked up and book and just didn’t want to put it down because you were completely absorbed in its content? I’m this way about health-related and recipe books. Recently I came across a book that I feel is so significant that I read it from cover to cover. I found it on The Complete Idiot’s Guide website.

The Complete Idiot’s Guide has a mammoth selection of self-help books on almost every topic imaginable. The subject of Health, Beauty & Diet caught my eye so I click on it to see what books they offer in this field. They offer lots of quick guides and how to’s on their site that I found very informative and sparked my interest in coconut oil. I clicked on their bookstore and found The Coconut Oil Diet book.
I gleaned a lot of valuable information from this book. The coconut palm or “Tree of Life” is believed to produce the “medicine that cures all ills.” Is there more to coconut oil than just cooking? You bet there is!
The book is broken down into four parts each with several chapters that focus on the specifics of coconut oil.
Part 1: Coconut Oil Basics
Part 2: The Science Behind Coconut Oil
Part 3: The Myriad Health Benefits of Coconut Oil
Part 4: Coconut Oil Recipes
It’s very well organized so you can either start from the beginning or jump right into any chapter that resonates with you.
I was really amazed by all the attributes coconut oil has. It should be held in high esteem with all the useful benefits it offers. The first thing I learned is that there is no such thing as extra virgin coconut oil, don’t be fooled, the best product is organic virgin coconut oil.
The first chapter has several health quizzes you can take to see if you are deficient in those areas whether it’s your thyroid, yeast & fungal overgrowth, parasite, fibromyalgia, or estrogen issues. After taking the quizzes I can see where I need to put more attention and adjust my diet to include more coconut oil.
You will learn about the usefulness of coconut oil with regard to energy, health, your immune system, brain function and aging. Chapter 8 deals with viruses, bacteria and yeast. You’ll learn how to use coconut oil for natural balance and cleansing and how it can be used as an alternative to antibiotics. Chapter 9 deals with dementias and neuropathologies and how to incorporate coconut oil into a seniors diet for vast health improvements. Chapter 10 is all about thyroid function and how quickly thyroid disease is increasing. It lists foods that should be avoided and I was quite horrified to see that I was actually making my thyroid worse with my diet. Chapter 11 is all about weight loss and how adding coconut oil will aid dramatically in trimming the waist line. One of my favorites is Chapter 12 which deals with healthy skin and hair. It also touches on rashes, eczema and psoriasis. Chapter 13 is devoted to heart disease. It’s imperative to know that dietary changes affect your heart health and unhealthy fats are a major contributor to many illnesses.
Part 4 is the best part, the recipes. The Coconut Oil is easy to apply, you simply substitute any oils, butters or margarines you are currently using with coconut oil. They actually have recipes for specific health issues like dementia for instance. Just by adding one tablespoon of coconut oil to a bowl of steaming oatmeal with a dash of cinnamon and a small handful of raisins can quickly show improvements.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It proved to be more serviceable and relevant than I could have imagined. I appreciated all the insights, tips and advice The Complete Idiot’s Guide to The Coconut Diet offered. Books make good gifts and the season for giving is quickly coming upon us. The Complete Idiot’s Guide to The Coconut Diet would make an awesome gift!!
