The Good Seed Hemp
Hemp is one of nature’s ultimate superfoods. Every part of this versatile plant has a purpose, from its seeds, oil, and fibers. Hemp planting improves the soil upon which it is grown and reduces deforestation. Products made entirely from hemp fiber are compostable, biodegradable, and recyclable, thereby alleviating our landfills.
It’s also a potent plant that’s been shown to be instrumental in supporting optimal health. I love hemp, and it’s an important part of my diet. Being a raw vegan, it’s my main source of omega’s and I enjoy it every day.
Hemp products are grown worldwide, but thankfully it’s grown in Western Canada. One local business that buys exclusively from our organic Canadian farmers is one of my favorite companies, The Good Seed Hemp Co.
All of The Good Seed Hemp products are organic, raw, gluten-free, vegan and kosher. They offer hemp seeds, oil, protein powder and snacks and my family and I completely love them.
Hemp Hearts are the most concentrated and balanced source of protein, carbohydrates, and EFA’s Mother Nature has bestowed upon us. The Hemp Hearts are the most nutritious part of the plant, and they have a stellar list of attributes. They’ve been shown to improve digestion, lower blood pressure, aid in weight loss, improve memory, increase energy, relieve arthritic pain, control blood sugars, help with chronic constipation and much more.
Eating several tablespoons a day will ensure you are getting the necessary nutrients your body needs to thrive. So how do you use them? You can eat them straight out of the bag, or toss a tablespoon or two in your cereal, salad, soup or dressings. You can also bake with them if you like, adding them to cookies, cakes, bars, and muffins. I put one scoop in my smoothies every morning, and it adds a delicious nutty flavor that’s addictive. They’re so yummy that even the kiddos will eat them. We always have several bags of hemp hearts handy for daily use.
The Good Seed Organic Hemp Oil is cold-pressed so that all the vital enzymes and nutrients are not destroyed. Hemp oil offers an omega 6/omega 3 ratio of 3:1. This proportion exceeds the target ratio of 4:1 and compensates for some of the omega-3 deficiencies in our diet. Other vegetable oils cannot compete with this EFA concentration and, more notably, in such a desirable omega-6/omega-3 ratio. Healthy fats, like hemp oil, are vital. They transport and distribute minerals and oxygen throughout the body, aiding in removing toxins, lubricating joints, improve circulation, and rebuilding the body. Hemp oil also supports the cardiovascular, reproductive, immune, and nervous systems. EFA’s are imperative for repairing cell membranes.
Incorporating this healthy oil into your diet is quite easy, just substitute it for any other oil. It can be used in all baked goods, or in any meal. I add a tablespoon of hemp oil every morning to my smoothie. I really like the taste when mixed with balsamic vinegar, it’s a great salad dressing.
The Good Seed also has some uber tasty Hempseed Superfood Energy & Nutrition Bars made with dehydrated plums, whole hemp seeds, ground hemp seeds, coconut, and peanut butter. These bars are divine; they’re soft, chewy, and unbelievably scrumptious. They provide enough nutrition and energy to be a meal replacement or they’re the ideal superfood snack to give you that all needed pick-me-up in the afternoon. They come in three flavors, Original with dried plums, coconut, and peanut butter, Chocolate Chip with coconut and dried fruit and Peanut Butter with coconut and dates.
Swing by The Good Seed and check out all their products, learn about their farms, or check out some recipes. They create high-quality products that provide high energy nutrition and I savor them all.
