I think many of us by now have heard about EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or Tapping, where you lightly tap on specific acupressure points. It’s a healing tool designed to remove unresolved emotions that stay trapped and wreak havoc in umpteen areas of our body, mind, and spirit. Tapping has been successfully used in all areas of life from chronic pain, physical issues, phobias, relationships, illness, to addictions.

How many of us feel that weight loss is a brutal journey, we trek and forge ahead for months, then fall back into our old patterns and start gaining weight again? We diet, we quit. We go to the gym, we quit. How many have avoided being in a family or get together photo’s? How many have canceled plans because you didn’t fit into that new frock you bought? How many of us are just downright ashamed of our appearance and don’t want to be seen by anyone? We are all in equal company.
If we have a constant weight issue that we are grappling with year after year, there has to be a reason, stress, an emotion, or a belief that’s interfering with our success. So, how does it work? Tapping bridges the gap between your body and mind. First, you have to focus on an issue that’s troubling you. When you’re tapping and focusing on your negative thought, feeling, or problem, it sends signals to your brain to get relax and clear it. You will also be repeating statements or affirmations while tapping on specific points. These are the steps you will have to do on a daily basis in order to achieve any kind of results. How long will it take? Everyone is different. The key is to stick with it until your issue is resolved. For some people it’s instant, but for the majority it requires commitment.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it flows smoothly and allows us to grasp this concept. I like knowing that it’s not about the weight, but more about the love we have for ourselves and our bodies. They understand our desperation to be thin and lovingly guides us to the root of our problems. Then the book provides us with a solution, a bunch of tapping sequences that will finally overturn the beliefs that do not serve us. It just may be the last weight loss book you buy.
But, tapping doesn’t work for everyone. You have to try it and see if it has an effect on your body. I tried it for other issues and it has no effect on me.
