Thrive Foods Cookbook
Have you found a cookbook that you love to refer to continually because it offers so many fabulous recipes that your family adores? It’s been man handles so many times, that the edges are curled and the pages stained? I have oodles of cookbooks that I like, but I recently found one that really resonated with me and the gang, Thrive Foods by Brendan Brazier.
Thrive Foods is a vegan cookbook with a focus on creating healthy and nutritious meals for maximizing your peak performance. The cookbook offers 200 super simple and delicious recipes with a slight gourmet flair. Like traditional meals? No fear, there’s ample cozy and time-honored ingredients used as well. Many of the recipes are created by friends of Brendan’s, who are top vegan and vegetarian chefs. They have taken all the guesswork out and formulated recipes with the most beneficial ingredients. This book shows that healthy does not have to be boring and bland, but flavorful and appetizing. It will also push you out of your comfort zone and get you to test drive ingredients you might grimace at, like perhaps dandelions. You’ll also be introduced to the world of superfoods like chlorella, chia seeds, hemp, and more.
The first couple of chapters centers around a plant-based diet and the benefits it will have on your body, mind, and spirit. It also has a profound effect on our environment and planet as a whole. Chapter 5 gets into nutrient-dense whole foods that we are encouraged to keep in our pantries as essentials. It’s so informative and I gleaned a lot of value from it. Chapter 6 is where all the action begins, Whole Food Recipes and I had fun create some awesome dishes.
We tried out several of the recipes and we really liked them all. The New Potato Pancakes were definitely a hit. They are so easy to make and delicious. It has flaxseed, brown rice flour, carrots, and coconut oil added to the potatoes. Oh, so yummy!!
We’ve also made the Zucky Hummus several times and have used it as a dip, spread, and a sauce. We like desserts and the Chocolate Chip Maple Maca Ice Cream is beyond satisfying. Seconds anyone!! Thrive is a cookbook that is going to be used over and over again because it really does offer recipes that our bodies can thrive on!
Thrive is well written and so educational. There are lots of high gloss mouth-watering images to savor over and wet your taste buds. It will give you a good reason to incorporate plant-based wholesome meals into your diet.
