Vegan Deliciously Diverse Recipe Books

As the holiday season settles in, we will be strafed with all the yummy delicacies it has to offer. The aromas and scrumptious flavors make it easy to mindlessly indulge ourselves into a sugar coma when tempted with cakes, cookies, chocolates, candies, and creamy Christmasy drinks. While no one can deny that we all deserve to celebrate the holidays, we also want to stay grounded and consume more healthy food than we gorge on festive treats. For many, including myself, making and eating a variety of diverse vegan recipes that are nutritious and delicious will keep you full and satisfied and less tempted. Plus, there are lots of guilt-free desserts that won’t sugar shock your mind and body.

Cooking during the holiday season is part of the warmth and joy associated with Christmas. It’s the spine and support of all get-togethers where we celebrate and share traditional and new dishes with our family and friends. While some may snub their noses, it’s great to add some vegan dishes to the feast for those who choose to eat healthy and for the curious on-lookers. Here are two new vegan recipe books that offer lots of healthy recipes that will inspire us to make wiser choices during the holidays.

Happy Vegan Comfort Food

Happy Vegan Comfort Food recipe book

Everyone has their version of what comfort food is. In essence, it’s a hot meal that gives you the warm fuzzies and makes you feel good, happy and totally satisfied. The Happy Vegan Comfort Food recipes come from the rolling hills of a Sweden countryside where it’s cold 8 months of the year. Brrr! I live in Canada, so I can relate.

Cold temperatures will drive us indoors and into the arms of a warm and inviting meal and drink. This is what the Happy Vegan is all about; recipes that are warming to the soul and flavorful to our taste buds. The book is divided into 5 chapters and each is filled with numerous adaptable plant-based recipes.

  • Introduction
  • The plant-based kitchen
  • From scratch
  • In the frying pan
  • In the pot
  • In the oven

The onset of the book shares how to prepare your kitchen with plant-based ingredients including proteins, nuts, seeds, dried berries, and specific staples. Then the book features recipes made with a frying pan, pot or in the oven. Each recipe is graced with a full-color photo and detailed step-by-step instructions. Plus, variations are offered for a change of flavor and texture.

If you’re brave, confident, a little creative and have the time, you might want to jump into ‘From Scratch’ recipes and make your own tofu, mince, sauerkraut, sauces, condiments, and plant milks. Otherwise, skip this part and dive into the recipes.

Some of the included recipes are Raggmunkar Swedish Potato Pancakes, Potato Tortilla, Vegetable Fritters, Pasta with Creamy Avocado Sauce, Laksa, Chilli, Sardinian Fennel and Chickpea Soup, Shepherd’s Pie, Lemon Falafel with Yellow Peas, Frittata and more. Both vegan recipe books featured are great to add to your culinary collection or to give as a gift during the holiday season.
