I don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve noticed that a lot of women are taking control of their health and gleaning new and better ways to improve it. Many gals are interested in becoming a vegan but are not sure how to go about it or if their nutritional needs will be met, being that they’ve grown up with an animal-based diet.
Vegan For Her is a fabulous book that will smoothly guide your transition into a plant-based diet. When I first became vegan there were not lots of books around so it’s a real pleasure to find this treasure!!
There are a few ways to use this book, you can either read it cover to cover or jump right into the chapters that resonate with you. Part One: Going Vegan is your introduction to a vegan diet.
1. Going Vegan: An Easy Transition
2. Vegan Nutrition: A Primer
3. Beyond Nutrients: One Healthy Diet
You will learn how easy it is to slowly alter your diet to add more vegan foods and be shown various alternatives to animal products. They share a list of 7 prime guidelines to follow that are extremely useful. They focus on how 3 particular conditions, insulin resistance, chronic inflammation and oxidative damage, underscore many of the issues that are central to women’s health.
Part Two: Healthy Eating For All the Times of a Woman’s Life is really a heart and soul of the book.
4. Understanding Research on Vegan Diets & Women’s Health
5. Diet and Hormones Throughout a Woman’s Life
6. A Plant-Based Plan to Enhance Fertility
7. Growing New Vegans: Nutrition for Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Then chapter 8 will guide you through creating your own fuel-rich menu. You’ll learn how to calculate your calories and which proteins and carbs will enhance your performance.

Chapter 9 teaches us how to eat intuitively and ditch the scales and diet mentality. I really enjoyed chapter 10, Healthy Aging. Our food choices cannot stop aging but it will slow the aging process down. It offers tips to keep our brains sharp and our skin toned and healthy through the years. A high antioxidant plant-based diet will protect against all aging symptoms. Ultimately you will learn how to make wiser and better food choices.
