Art and creativity have many mediums. Some use paint, stained glass, wood, pottery, metal, fabric, and even yarn to create works of art. Each form or method fuels our inspiration, and yarn happens to be my medium. I get great pleasure crocheting and knitting items into being. As a result, I have copious pattern books filled with ideas that spark my imagination. You can never have enough patterns, so I’m always adding to my collection. Here are two of my newest craft books that will add a lot of value to any skill level.
Crochet This! is a creative book that will educate and excite beginners and inspire seasoned crocheters to create 25 different projects. The book is divided into three sections, Techniques Step-by-Step, Stitch Dictionary and Projects.
The Techniques section uses step-by-step photos and illustrations to show how to make 65 different essential crochet stitches. These include basic stitches and more detailed ones like spiraling, making flowers, curved edges, buttonholes, fringes and more. The back of this section also share abbreviations, yarn weights, hook sizes, and understanding crochet charts.
The Stitch section shows photos of swatches made from different crochet stitches. They also include a graph, stitch key, color key, and written pattern. Some of the included stitches are Petite Popcorn, Crochet Cable, Solid Scallop and more. It also helps you create a variety of different motifs, shapes, stripes, flowers, and edgings like the Tilted Cluster, Pinwheel, Oxalis, Scallop Stripes and more.
Once you’ve practiced all the different stitches, you can put them to work creating one of the 25 included projects. Each project features the skill level, a full-color photo, and an easy to read instructions. They range from easy to complex so as your skill grows, you can try a new project. Crochet This! is a great addition to my craft book collection.
