Yonanas Frozen Dessert Maker

As we morph from spring into summer, warm weather activities increase and our appetites change. We’re joyously pondering and planning our holidays, picnics, and family get together’s. One of the primo parts of summer is the food: barbecues, salads, luscious fruit, and desserts. One of the good ole standby treats is ice cream. Who doesn’t love it on a sweltering hot summer day? Well, actually if you read the ingredients, you may be concerned. Here’s a list of just some of them: propylene glycol, disodium phosphate, mono stearate, benzyl acetate, sodium benzoate, polysorbate 80, potassium sorbate, modified corn starch and soy lecithin. Hmm, many of these are toxic chemicals. That being said, there’s still a way to enjoy ice cream without the unhealthy additives.

Yonanas Frozen Dessert Maker

Yonanas is an ingenious healthy dessert maker. They use frozen fruit to create incredibly tasty and salubrious dishes. The Yonanas is a lightweight kitchen gadget with just a few pieces, the motor base, the chute assembly, and the plunger. The chute assembly must be locked onto the base in the 12:00 position or it will not work. It also comes with a user manual and The Healthy Recipe Guide which offers 22 great recipes.

We don’t buy ice cream, so I can’t tell you how excited we were to test drive this cute little dessert maker. For the most part, we are conscious about healthy food alternatives, so the yummy treats made with the Yonanas are in harmony with our goals. It’s so easy to use and in moments you have nourishing frozen desserts ready to eat.

Your first step is to purchase bananas a week prior to peeling and freezing. You want your bananas to be slightly over ripened, so they’ll have those perfect cheetah spots. Once they’re at that stage, peel and freeze as many banana’s and other fruit as you like. We froze a dozen banana’s and lots of strawberries, pineapple, blueberries, and even some apple. The combinations are really endless.

There’s a little trick to making the perfect Yonanas frozen dessert; it’s recommended you thaw your frozen fruit for about 10 minutes or so just before use. For us, this step made a difference. To use, you simply put your frozen fruit in the chute and press gently with the plunger. The thick and luscious treat comes out quickly and directly into your serving dish. So easy.

We had so much fun creating oodles of different treats. They look and taste phenomenal; they’re all wholesome, and they’re nondairy. You can use 100% real fruit, or you can add chocolate, cookies, frozen pie filling, and well, I could go on. The kids actually added some peanut butter to some of their desserts, and they really enjoyed it.

You can also make your ice cream and then freeze them into popsicles or ice cream pies, the kids will love this. This means you can create healthy and guilt-free desserts anytime. We’ve also enjoyed them for breakfast using banana’s, papaya, and ginger; just sprinkle some cinnamon or coconut on top and you’ll be in euphoric bliss with the flavors. Although we tried various recipes, we found that adding a banana each time created a nicer, creamier, smoother, and richer treat. Banana’s alone were awesome too. All combinations were bursting with abundant flavor and sweetness. I really liked that you didn’t have to add any sweetener, the fruit was sweet on its one. This is a big plus for us moms.

Clean up is a breeze too, just rinse and put in the dishwasher. Bottom line, this is a great product to have all year round. We scream for Yonanas! What a perfect gift this would make too!!
